Meet the Team Behind CrystalSite

We're four LGBTQ+ people who couldn't find a wedding resource that spoke to us — not at us, not around us, but to us. So we built one.

We started this site because every wedding resource we found assumed the same thing: a bride and a groom. We wanted something different. A place where real LGBTQ+ couples share real budgets and real mistakes. A place where vendors are scored on genuine inclusivity, not marketing claims. A place that feels like a friend who has been through it — because we have.

Our Editorial Team

MC

Maya Chen

Senior Wedding Planning Editor

Maya is a Los Angeles wedding planner with 120+ weddings under her belt — more than half of them LGBTQ+. She planned her own $8,000 backyard wedding, and she'll tell you exactly what was worth it and what wasn't. Her double perspective as both planner and bride shapes every piece of advice she gives.

JR

Jordan Reeves

Real Wedding Correspondent

Jordan is planning his own wedding right now — budget $18,000, nerves high, Excel spreadsheet open. He documents every win and every mistake in real time so you can learn from his errors before you make them yourself. His perspective is that of someone in the middle of it all, not someone looking back.

AR

Alex Rivera

Elopement & Micro Wedding Editor

Alex is an elopement photographer and micro wedding planner from Portland, Oregon. They believe the ceremony is the wedding — everything else is a party. Their work focuses on small weddings with big meaning, especially for non-binary and gender-nonconforming couples.

SO

Sarah Okafor

Vendor Scoring Director

Sarah has spent twelve years in the wedding industry — five as a planner and seven evaluating vendors. She created the 10-point scoring system that powers every review on this site. Her philosophy is simple: a vendor's Instagram doesn't matter if they're late on your wedding day.

A Note From Our Founder

There are two kinds of people online: those who build, and those who find excuses. This site was built by people who care deeply about doing things right. We test everything we recommend. We disclose exactly how we make money. And we never, ever let a commission change our rating. That's our promise to you.
